PowerShot A5 Zoom - Sample Images

The PowerShot A5 Zoom, is more than just a zoom version of the PowerShot A5, it adds some new functions and features that makes creative photography easier.

Firstly the obvious zoom lens, covering the 28-70mm range in 35mm terms it's one of the widest zoom lenses of any digital camera. When the camera is switched on the lens moves to the 28mm position. In the shots below the camera was tripod mounted, and each shot taken at the 28mm and 70mm settings, plus for comparison the same shot from the same tripod location was taken with the PowerShot A5 (35mm lens).

PowerShot A5 Zoom has a few more features to appeal to the creative user. Auto white balance may be fine in most circumstances - and PowerShot AWB is better than many, but manual white balance is useful for special effects and circumstances. The four manual white balance settings on the PowerShot A5 Zoom are Daylight, Cloudy, Tungsten and Fluorescent. Here's some shots to show the effect.

Perhaps one of the most remarkable features added to the PowerShot A5 Zoom is the slow shutter and night scene modes. The shutter speed of the PowerShot A5 Zoom goes down to 2 seconds! With a slow shutter speed there is now the possibility to add movement and blur to images, plus shoot when the light has almost gone.

The Stitch Assist feature of the PowerShot A5 is also on the A5 Zoom, so you could check out the images on the A5 page to get an idea of the stitch advantage of the PowerShot "A" series cameras.
