PowerShot A50 - Sample Images

The PowerShot A50, creates 1280x960 pixel images at it's maximum resolution. Other functions are virtually identical to the PowerShot A5 Zoom. However the PowerShot A50 is the first Canon camera to include support for the new Design rule for Camera File support (DEFAULT), though it also offers the Camera Image File Format (CIFF) for complete backwards compatiblity with other PowerShots. If this is confusing, then check out the FAQ, or don't worry about it, the A50 will display the images from older PowerShot's anyway.

Here's one shot at at each of the quality settings, in both Default and CIFF formats.

* CCD_RAW images can only be opened with the Canon drivers. This image has been converted to a JPG image and saved with the Ulead Smartsaver at 100% quality, YUV422 subsampling, progressive jpeg compression and smoothing none settings

PowerShot A50 also has the manual white balance control, and slow shutter speed found on the PowerShot A5 Zoom. Check out the A5 Zoom page to see the effects of these controls.

Also the PowerShot A50 includes the Stitch Assist mode of the A5 Zoom and A5, but the images are somewhat larger. Here's a four image stitch sample from the PowerShot A50.
