PowerShot 600 - Sample Images

The images below are from the PS600, transferred to PhotoImpact 4.0 using the TWAIN driver and then saved as progressive jpg files with 80 or 90% jpeg quality factors. Unfortunately this gives large files so be ready for a bit of downloading time.

The PS600 lens is equivalent to 50mm in 35mm photography terms, and the wide-angle converter (WC-PS28) fits on with a custom mount to give a 28mm wide angle in 35mm terms. The effect of this accessory can be seen in the images below.

PowerShot 600 has a multitude of image sizes and compression options to choose from, giving flexibility in the number of images, quality and dimensions. For the photographer requiring monochrome images the PS600 has a "B/W Text" mode, which gives even greater levels of detail and sharpness than the colour modes!!

PowerShot 600 File Sizes

At PowerShot User we made some tests with our PowerShot 600 camera and acheived the results in the table below. Please note that in addition to the image files that are written, the PS600 also writes a small thumbnail of each image as a .TIF file. The .TIF file includes certain shooting properties in it's header section and is either 15KB for colour images, or 5.6KB for "B/W Text" mode images. The thumbnails are 80x60 pixels in size, and it's these thumbnails that the TWAIN driver displays.
